If you are anything like I was pre-first house, then you probably know squat about home ownership. But have no fear, you’re in luck–The Detroit Young Professionals organization is presenting a home buying seminar this Saturday “with industry experts (Housing & Credit Counselors, Realtors, Mortgage Counselors Insurance Agents, Housing Inspectors, Property Managers MSHDA Representative, and HUD Specialists). You’ll learn about valuable programs that will help empower you as a consumer (Tax Credits, Property Rehabilitation, College Mortgage Loans and Down Payment Assistance, and more). Afterwards there will be a bus tour through the ten neighborhoods in this area”.
Oh how I wish this event would have happened two years ago, before my husband and I purchased our first house. At a mere 21 and 23, we were young and anxious to a finally have a place we could call our very own. Looking back, there were so many financial opportunities that we missed out on as first-time home buyers, and so many beautiful Detroit areas that we overlooked.
So if you’re in the market for a new home, especially if you’re a first time buyer, you do not want to miss out on this event!
More info after the jump…

While I’m not familiar with their selection of home goods, if it is even as remotely fly as their clothing, then it might be worth checking out. They are having a “resale” June 14th. If you are in the Detroit area, stop by at 404 W. Willis Street Detroit, Michigan 48201. Tell Felicia the D in Decor sent you!
